Waldsee

Waldsee was amazing.  I don't really know how to describe it, but I met so many new people there, learned a lot of songs, reinforced different skills, and I think my accent improved a little.  My housemates and the counselors were great!  Ah, I miss it already.  I hope I can return next summer.

Bon Voyage, or Gute Reise!

Saturday was my Bon Voyage Party with various friends and family members.  It was great seeing friends and family, but it didn't feel like it possibly was the last time I would see some of those people. Wow.  I'm sure it will hit later in August.  Thank you, those who came.  I love all of my friends and family greatly, and will miss all of them dearly.

49 Days

I found out today that I only have 49 days until I leave for Germany! Oh my goodness... That is not that much time.  I still have to receive my host family, plan, set up a bank account, read a bunch of information, and say goodbye to everyone.  I'm sure it will all fall into place when the time comes, but that's only a month and a half away!  I am so excited to meet everyone else heading over from the States in DC!

Die Deutschakademie 2013

I have returned from the three-week, German immersion camp!  I had quite the adventure.  Before attending the academy, I worried a little that I wouldn't understand people and I had some angst.  At first it was a little difficult, but as the academy progressed I could feel myself understanding so much more, being able to talk more easily and better, and having the time of my life!  I love everyone at the camp and will miss them dearly!  Now we have the Facebook group and all of the photos to look forward to!

Acceptance

A few days ago I received a much anticipated acceptance email with the subject line AFS: You have been Accepted by Germany!  I have officially now been accepted by AFS-Germany, so the wait for a family begins.  There are about twelve weeks remaining before I leave for Germany and the adventure of a lifetime.

Die Deutschakademie

In late June I will attend the German Governor's Academy, which is a full-immersion German summer camp!  I received more information on what exactly I will be doing there, including learning basic Russian and discussing world events.  There is a lot more that I will participate in during the three weeks!
